Fourteen prisoners have lost their life in Turkish jails in the last six months, according to the figures of the Human Rights Association (IHD) Prisons Commissions published by Cumhuriyet daily on Friday. The prisoners died while waiting for Forensic Medicine Institution’s report to approve their release.

The report says that 460 ill prisoners filed an application for their release from February to March of 2013, after the law on execution of sentences underwent a change and paved the way for the suspension of execution for ill and disabled inmates that cannot maintain their life alone in jail and do not constitute a danger to public safety.
